In this course, you will explore the foundations of Maya 2022. You will learn how to create a project, navigate around the interface, and set up a custom workspace. Using the basic modeling tools, you will model and texture a simple lamp. Once you’ve accomplished that, you will then learn how to rig and animate the lamp.
Starting with the user interface, you will explore the basic navigation of the viewports, windows, and toolbars. You will learn how to create custom workspaces and shelves, as well as setting up projects for better file management. We’ll also explore how to set up autosave and incremental saving. You will learn the basic foundations of hard surface modeling. Proper edge flow and locking loops smooth rendering will be covered. Additionally, we’ll cover how to set up basic shaders and render them in Arnold, as well as how to set up realistic volumetric and HDRI lighting. We’ll go step-by-step through how to model and texture a desk lamp. Then afterward, you’ll learn the basics of character rigging using iconic controls, constraints, bones, FK, and IK controls. By the end of the course, you will be able to animate a simple jump of the lamp.
It is a beginner course that explores the foundations of Maya 2022, covering interface navigation, basic modeling, texturing, rigging, and animation.
You will model and texture a desk lamp, then rig and animate it, ending with animating a simple jump of the lamp.
The course covers the basics of hard surface modeling, proper edge flow, locking loops for smooth rendering, setting up basic shaders and rendering them in Arnold, and setting up realistic volumetric and HDRI lighting.
You will learn the basics of character rigging using iconic controls, constraints, bones, FK, and IK controls, and by the end you will be able to animate a simple jump of the lamp and export the animation to a file.
