Hello, my name is Christina Lofredo and in these lessons you will learn about different Slack applications and how integration of these apps into Slack will help with management of work and ease of communication. The applications you will learn about are Calendar apps, Simple Poll, Zoom, and Google Drive. In this lesson, I will show you how to integrate both Google Calendar and Outlook Calendar into Slack as a way to help with time management of your work. Connecting Google Calendar for Slack helps both you and your team stay organized with timely notifications, event reminders, and more. If you are a Gmail user, you may already use Google Calendar in your daily life. To use the Google Calendar in Slack, one person needs to install the application to your workspace. This would be you if you are the workspace administrator. Once the app is installed, members of the workspace are able to connect their calendars to Slack. Let's begin by finding the Google Calendar app for Slack. As you can see here, we are in the Slack App directory, and to get here you simply find it in the sidebar of your Slack account. Just a note that this Apps tab did not show here until I added an app to my Slack account. If you don't see this here on yours, simply navigate up to More and select Apps. Initially, I had to click More to even see the Apps option here. Here are some of the features of Google Calendar. I can create an event using the Shortcuts button right from Slack. Automatically set status updates when I'm in a meeting. View all of my daily Calendar details right from Slack. Get reminders when events are about to begin, see new event invitations and respond from Slack directly. Learn quickly about event updates and more. Since I have already installed Google Calendar, you can see it listed here under Apps. If I go into my Google Calendar and I click on Create Event, for example, you'll notice that it also gives me the option to share this meeting with my Google Calendar as well. Next, let's look at the Outlook Calendar app's features. Just like with my Google Calendar, I can create an event using the Shortcuts button. Automatically set status updates when I'm in a meeting or out of the Office. View all of my Daily Calendar details right from Slack. Get reminders when events are about to begin, see new event invitations and respond from Slack. Learn quickly about event updates and more. Keep in mind that if you do not already have an Outlook account, this application will likely not be useful to you. This goes for many of the apps in the Application directory, as you would with any app that you want to integrate with Slack. Click on Add to Slack to add it to your account. Google and Outlook Calendars, are just two of many wonderful apps that you can integrate with your Slack account to ensure that you are working most efficiently, whether alone or with a team.
