Hello, my name is Takisha Strong and in these lessons you will learn how to install and navigate QuickBooks Pro 2022. We will walk through the differences between installing QuickBooks locally and in a remote environment, how to create copies of your company file, and the main home screen features and workflows. Installing QuickBooks locally is the default option to beginning work with QuickBooks. Once you set up your file, the software automatically creates a folder on the computer's hard drive. This option is ideal if only one person is using the company's file from the computer. Most often, QuickBooks files need to be accessed by more than one person or from more than one location. In these instances, you can either set up the company file from a local server, a remote server or access the company file from a remote computer. Installing the software on a local server allows more than one user to access the company file. Each user must have QuickBooks installed on their individual computer or workstation. To select this option upon installation, choose custom and network install then follow the prompts to continue. Alternatively, hosting a company file from a remote server allows the software to be installed in the cloud so to speak, instead of on a single physical device. The software application and related company files would be housed or stored on this secure cloud server hosted by your provider of choice. To find a current list of providers Intuit authorizes for this service, just search hosting providers on quickbooks.intuit.com. Using a hosting environment is similar to logging into a completely separate computer. Once you log into the host environment, you can either create a new company file as normal or copy your existing file into the host environment. In all of these instances, the number of users available to work on each file will still be based on your QuickBooks subscription level. Lastly, you can install your QuickBooks Company file on one computer that can be accessed remotely by you and your team. First, map the server or host computer as a network drive within the computer you'll use to access the file. You can search your computer platform for instructions on completing this step. After selecting the drive you will use, you'll install QuickBooks as normal using the network option instead of the standalone system. Now for each of the options we discuss, the admin will need to set up the file for multi-user. To do so, select file from your home menu and switch to multi-user mode. Select yes to continue. that you'll need to use the QuickBooks desktop database server manager to scan your computer for the company files. Follow the prompts to complete this step. From here, select yes to set up additional users or no to complete this step later. From here, each user can then open the company file ensuring multi-user mode is listed on the top. Otherwise, the other users will be blocked from viewing and updating the file.
