In this course on LGBTQ+ and the Workplace, we’ll teach you about the multiple laws that prohibit discrimination against people based on gender identity and sexual orientation. We’ll also identify some of the everyday stereotypes, biases, discrimination, and harassment LGBTQ+ people face. Along the way, we’ll help you to reflect on your own stereotypes and biases, and explore how companies can prevent harassment and discrimination in the workplace.
We’ll share ways you can overcome your own biases and stereotypes of the LGBTQ+ community. We’ll also define the types of unfair treatment community members face and identify some best practices to combat them, from zero-tolerance policies to fair and equitable policies on hiring, promoting, managing, and firing employees.
