In these lessons on Unreal Engine 5 and game design, you will get an overview of the origins of Unreal Engine, how to navigate the editor interface, and discover the new features found in Unreal Engine 5.
These lessons explore how to get around in the Unreal Engine editor and explore the various panels used to create actors, lighting, animation, and dynamic simulations. We will also explore the new features available in Unreal Engine 5, including Nanite mesh optimization, Lumen real-time global illumination system, Niagara particle system, and the world partition system.
You’ll learn how to download and install the Epic Games launcher, install Unreal Engine 5, locate and install plug-ins and content packs, add actors and other assets including audio, and add and edit geometry. Plug-ins are available within the Unreal Engine editor and are chosen based on project needs. Content packs, available with the starter content as well as free or purchased from the marketplace, allow you to enhance your projects with pre-made assets or complete levels to build on.
These lessons also cover how to add a variety of actors, including a third-person character, lights, sounds, BSP geometry, and importing external assets, including audio files.
