In this lesson, we want to explore how to create task deadlines. Now at this point in my project, all my tasks are linked together, and I'm ready to start ensuring that specific important tasks will occur when I need them to. One of your options to do this is to create a task deadline. Now right now task number 17 is two days in length as we can see, and we can see the start and finish dates for this task. One opportunity to help you ensure that a task will occur on time is to set a task deadline. One nice thing about task deadlines, as long as you don't knock up against the date, they really leave you alone. However, they are just a marker. You can still schedule past them. But to create a task deadline, we're going to double click on the task and go into its task information box. Now inside the task information box, there is an advanced tab. And within the advanced tab on the second row, you'll see there's a deadline field. Now tasks have no deadline unless you create one for them. So to create this deadline, I'm going to come in and click on the dropdown arrow and a calendar populates. In this calendar, I can select the date that I'd like to apply to this particular task. And then I'm going to click on okay. Now at first, when you look, it doesn't seem like anything has changed. However, if I come into my project and zoom in just a little bit, we're gonna see that about the very date that I selected, I'm seeing a green arrow, and it occurs on the same row as that task. This is the actual deadline marker. And if I hover over the top of it with my mouse, we'll see that it does bring up a quick tip with deadline inside of it and the date. Now, as long as my task gets completed on time, the deadline won't do anything. However, if I start scheduling this task out past the deadline, then Microsoft Project will let me know it's happening. However, keep in mind that you can still schedule past the deadline and Project can't stop you from doing it. It's more of a warning than something that will actually stop the software from scheduling past. Thanks so much for watching.
