(gentle music) How can you build teammates' skills to strengthen them? Let's look at involving individual members' skills in team development, capitalizing on the talent you have, providing opportunities for professional development for your team, nurturing your team members through coaching, and leveraging diversity for team development. You can start by drawing an action plan with your team members, which you can base on your previous discussions. You can start with the team development plan. You can divide the development items into four areas, team identity, team culture, team performance, and internal processes. Let them know that for your team's success, all of them will play a role and will take leads based on their strengths and interests. Request their cooperation and commitment, then ask for volunteers. As the leader, you'll have to take more items than others to prevent your team members from feeling like you're putting all the workload on them. For each development item, brainstorm together, get a consensus on the way forward. Fill in the respective team members' names for the lead and members columns. They will be responsible for executing each action item. The person taking the lead is responsible for ensuring the completion of the assigned action item within the agreed timeframe. Next, you can work on the individual development plans. You can set this framework and let your team members decide the specific items they want to improve under performance and attitude. Look at skills or knowledge to measure the performance metrics, and behaviors to measure the attitude. You can get your team members to learn from each other as well. Build a safe environment for everyone. Set ground rules, such as not mocking or shaming people for not knowing something or making mistakes, showing empathy for other people's difficulties, giving constructive feedback, and accepting feedback graciously. Every team member will have certain tasks they excel in. Ask them to share with others how they go about doing those tasks. Assign star performers as buddies to your newer or less experienced team members. Your stars can mentor, guide, and have a positive influence on them. You can also assign those members who want to improve as learning buddies. Try to create a learning culture in your team by taking turns every week to share about what you've learned. Now that you've started involving your team members, let's look at how to go further by capitalizing on the star performers on your team.
