Everyone has biases, whether or not they’re aware of them. An unconscious bias is one which someone isn’t actively aware that they hold. Some biases are harmless, while others can have negative effects on us and those around us, especially in the workplace where we’re likely to encounter all kinds of different people. In these cases, learning to recognize and mitigate these biases will help ensure everyone is able to work together safely and effectively.
In these lessons, you will learn how to recognize your own unconscious biases. We’ll cover some of the most common biases people may have, and you’ll learn how these biases can have significant impacts to your workplace. Finally, we’ll cover some methods you can use to mitigate the effects of your own unconscious biases to ensure a fair and equitable workplace for everyone in your organization. By the end of this course, you’ll be able to identify your own unconscious biases and take tangible steps toward reducing and eliminating them.
