In this lesson, we will review how. To apply themes and Stationary to Outlook messages. Stationary in Microsoft Outlook is an option. That provides backgrounds and patterns and offers a set of unified design elements. It impacts such areas as the fonts, bullets, colors, and effects. When composing email communication, you can choose from predesign themes or Stationary, or you. Can create your own. In this lesson, we'll look at how. To apply those that are predesigned to. All email messages or to specific messages. And then we'll look at ways that. You can customize it to fit your own personal use. To begin, you'll open Outlook and we'll. First look at how to apply a Stationary theme to all messages that you send in Outlook. So we'll go to the File tab and select Options. And select Mail. This gives us all of the setting. Options to customize our email communication. So to apply a theme or stationary. Design to all email messages, select the. Option Stationary and Fonts. And then select. The option that says Theme. And here are all of the predefined. Themes that are currently available in your Outlook application. And you can select that particular design. That you would like to use for all of your email communication. When you click on the name, it'll give you a preview of what that. Design will look like and all the. Areas that it will impact. Once you find a design of your. Particular preference, to apply it to all. Of the email messages that you send, you'll select it and click OK to apply. Then click OK to close and okay to close. Now, when you go to send an email communication, that theme that you selected. Should be applied every time. You also have the option to apply. A Stationary theme to a single message. To choose that option. You'Ll go to. Your ribbon on the Home tab. In the New group, you'll select the New Items button and then select the option Email Message Using. And then from the drop down list, you'll choose the option More Stationary. See the same list of predesign options. That we saw before. And again, you'll select from that particular. Design, the one that you want to. Use in this email communication. And then once you select it, you. Click OK to apply. Once you do that, the dialog box. Should close and a new email message. Should open with the design that we selected already applied. And that design will be for just that message. So if you want to select a. Different design each time, you can choose to do so using that option. Now, once you desire to no longer use the themes that you've applied, you. Can always turn those themes off, especially those that you apply for all messages. To turn that theme off, you'll go. Back to the File tab, back to Options. Back to Mail, and again select. Stationery and Fonts and Themes. This time, we no longer want to. Apply that theme to all messages. So we'll choose the option no Theme. Okay to apply, okay again and okay. To close the Options dialog box. And now when we open a new. Email message, there's no theme applied. So if we no longer want to use it, that's how we can remove it. By default. You also have the option of customizing. Your themes that you choose to use. So ways in which you can go. About customizing it again, you can go. To opening a new message if you. Want to only apply that customized theme. To the one message that you are using. So you'll open up a new email. Message and you will choose the option. To be able to apply themes. So to do that, you'll go to. The Options tab and in the Themes. Group you'll have the predesigned themes that. You can apply to that one message. So customizing ways in which you can customize a theme is you can customize by designing a select color of preference. A select font or a select effect. So under Colors, there's a predesigned set. Of colors that are already available for. You to choose, or you can customize. So that's what we want to kind. Of view here, click Customize Colors. You can go in and select colors. For different fonts or accents or hyperlinks. That are not currently in a pre designed theme format. So you can choose from any of. The colors that are available in the. Color themes, or you can select the option More Colors and then select a color from the color wheel here. Either way, you can adjust or change the colors in any area of a theme to create your own theme. And once you've selected the colors of. Choice, you can apply or give your. New color theme a name by typing the name here in the Name box. And click Save to Sort. When you go back to the Color. Button, you should notice now that customized. Theme is there at the top, so. If you want to use it again. Once you've created it, you can have. It available here to be able to apply to other email messages. So similarly for fonts, you can also. Customize your font kind of following a. Similar path, choosing the option Customize Fonts and selecting the fonts you desire to use, such as the heading font and the body font. You can select your particular preference. And. Then name it and save it. Once you've saved it now it should. Be available under the Custom Font area. To apply and use in future communication. And of course, effects. You will simply just choose an effect. That you want to apply from the. Provided option to customize your themes to your particular preference. So you have the option of applying. A customized theme to all messages, you. Have the option to apply customized themes. To a particular message, and you have. The option to customize themes. Selecting your colors of choice and fonts of choice. Hopefully this helps you to enhance the. Look and feel of your email communication as you learn to use your Outlook application.
