The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration subjects a motor carrier’s vehicles to several different types of inspections. As a driver, you’re responsible for conducting these inspections, so it’s important to understand which inspections are necessary, when to carry them out, and how to conduct an inspection safely to ensure you are in compliance with all regulations.
In this course, we will cover a range of regulations set forth by the FMCSA and the Department of Transportation. You will learn how to conduct pre-trip, post-trip, and en route inspections. We’ll also cover the documentation you’ll need to fill out for each inspection, such as a Driver’s Vehicle Inspection Report (DVIR) and what to do if your inspection reveals any problems with the truck or trailer. You will also learn how to inspect your vehicle’s cargo to ensure that it is correctly loaded and secured. By the end of this course, you’ll have all the tools you’ll need to conduct routine inspections on your vehicle at every stage of your trip.
