This course is about taking the concepts learned in the beginner course, namely creating parts using solid-modeling features, and expanding them into more complex and parametrically driven designs that combine with other part files to create larger and more encompassing assemblies.
You will begin by discovering the differences between solid and surface bodies and how they are used to create detailed part designs. From there, you will learn how to take parts into large collections of parts that can perform complex functions that can be used to illustrate deeper design intent both for presentation and documentation. You will learn how to use assembly files to show parts in movement and context. Finally, you will take these part and assembly files and illustrate them in drawings fit for documentation and production preparation.
It is designed for learners who have completed the beginner course and want to take the concepts of creating parts with solid-modeling features further into more complex and parametrically driven designs, assemblies, and drawings.
It covers the difference between solid and surface bodies, building solid and surface bodies, combining parts into larger assemblies, keeping complex assemblies true to design intent, and creating production-ready drawings from assemblies and parts.
The course develops skills in CAD programs, CADwork, solid modeling, SolidWorks (CAD), surface modeling, and SolidWorks certification.
Surface modeling lessons cover extrude, revolve, sweep, loft, and boundary surfaces, unique surface tools, trim and untrim, knitting surface bodies into solid bodies, surface thicken, and deleting faces to create surface bodies.
Assembly lessons cover basic mate tools, setting distance and angle mate conditions, cam, slot, and hinge mates, gear, rack and pinion, screw, and universal joint mates, and profile center, symmetric, and width mates.
