Hi, this is Erin Sullivan, and in this module we are going to be looking at adding and managing comments, for your Microsoft PowerPoint presentations. In this first lesson, we're gonna take a look at adding comments to a presentation. So, comments allow you to review somebody else's presentation or add notes or comments to items and objects in your own presentation so that you can review them at a later time. In Microsoft PowerPoint 2021, there are a couple of new features with the comments, and I'm going to show you where you access all of those features and how they work. So, let's get started. We're currently looking at a presentation about scientific discovery, and we are going to go to the Review tab on the ribbon, and you will see where you can have comments added into your presentation. All right, so we're gonna go ahead and take a look at how we can add a comment. So, in PowerPoint 2021, you can add comments to specific items and words in a presentation. So, let's say on this first slide here, I wanted to comment on this specific word scientific. I select the word and I go up to the Review tab. And in the Comments group, I click on New Comment. A new comment will show on the side in the Comments pane, and I can type my comment there and maybe I want to say great idea. Then, I post my comment by clicking the Post button, or I could also press Ctrl + Enter on my keyboard. So, now when I look at this slide and I'm looking at my Navigation pane on the left, you can see I have three comments on this slide, two comments on this slide, one comment on slide seven. So, I can see that there are multiple comments on the slide. Comments are now anchored to specific objects. And if you were to move the object, the comment would go with it. This makes it a little easier to be specific about what it is you're commenting on in a slide rather than a general comment on the slide as a whole. So, like I said, there are three comments on this slide. With a comment selected, it is highlighted on the slide. So, this purple comment that I placed on this slide is highlighted currently, but there are two other comments on this slide. Now, I can click on the comment and I can see where it is, what it is referring to. And you'll also notice that there are little comment bubbles around my slide. So, if you go to the Show Comments button on the Review tab, you can see that we can Show Advanced Markup. So, those are referred to as our modern comments that have those little balloon dialogue bubbles where the comments are on the slide. So, when that is selected, it shows all of the places where there is a comment on the slide. If you make a comment on a slide, like I did here, and I want the comment balloon to actually be about this word here, I can move it so that it is directing whoever reads the comments later precisely to where I want their focus on this slide. So, let's take a look, for example, at slide number two in this presentation. There are two comments. You can see that one is here and one is here. And when I click on it, it highlights in a purple color both in my Comments pane and on my slide. Now, if I don't wanna see those bubbles throughout the slide, I can turn them off. I can turn off I'm Showing Advanced Markup. I can also turn off that Comments pane at the same button from Show Comments, I can close the Comments pane. Now, the comments aren't gone and I can still see by looking in my Navigation pane, here on the left, that there are two comments on this slide. I would just need to click on Show Comments and Comments pane, and there they are again. They are right there for me to view. So, if you wanna add a comment to a specific item in a slide, you can select it. For example, I'm going to select the text primary goals. Then, I'm going to click New Comment, and my comment will be added here. I want more explanation on this. I can either press Post or Ctrl + Enter to post that comment. And now, when I click away from the comment there and I asked to show the comments and Show Advanced Markup, you can see my comment balloon there. And if I wanted to move that so that it was closer to primary goals so that when somebody was looking they knew what I was referring to, I can just click and drag that little balloon to anchor that comment there, and it is anchored to that text. Another thing that we can do with our comments, we have the ability to respond to comments and to resolve comments if this is something that we took care of, you know, we've gotten this back and we're reviewing it. So, over here, this comment, John says, "Be sure to check the order." I'm going to respond, "This is fine." Ctrl + Enter, and then I can mark this comment as resolved. So, you'll see the three dots or the More button up there. When I click on that, I can choose resolve thread. It grays out the comment so that there aren't any more responses or replies to that comment. So, that is how we can add and review comments in a PowerPoint presentation using the Review tab. You can also add comments to a slide, and I'm just gonna move to the next slide, by right clicking over an object in the slide. Maybe I wanted to add a comment to this photo, I can right click over the photo, and using my shortcut menu I can choose New Comment, and it is the same as having gone up to the ribbon. Nice picture, here's my comment. And I have added that to this slide as well. If you add a comment and you don't want it in your presentation, you can delete it. You can only delete comments that you added, so I'm gonna just go ahead and delete this thread. You'll notice that it's gone from the Comments pane as well as from the Navigation pane on the left, you no longer see the comment balloon there on the left. Well, thanks for joining me on how to use comments in a PowerPoint presentation. Stay tuned for our next lesson where I will be talking about adding and managing in your presentation.
