Hello, in this particular lesson I'm going to be introducing you to colors and lineweights. So before we get started, I'd like for you to make sure you've opened up the Colors and Lineweights drawing as I have shown here on my screen. And once you get that open, let's go ahead and follow along. Now, the properties that we are about to look at these are gonna be for the properties of individual objects. And you must be careful when assigning these properties to individual objects, 'cause typically you will assign these properties to layers. When you assign these properties to individual objects may make it difficult to and what layers objects are a part of. So let's go ahead and take a look at these properties that we're talking about. On the ribbon here, I'm on the home tab and all the way over here to the right under the properties area. At the top, we have the color. Click on dropdown arrow here. And this is where you can define the color for all objects that you are about to modify, draw or create. So right now it's set to ByLayer. That means that every object that you create right now will use the ByLayer settings, which in this case is layer zero. If I was to set a color here, I'll choose red. Then every object that I would draw right now will have the color red. Independent of what the layer settings are. The layer settings suggest the color is white. So if I was to draw a rectangle right now It's gonna come out red. Even though the layer is white. If I set my color back to ByLayer, when I rectangle it's going to come out assuming the colors defined by the layer. If you needed to change to a different color for your objects. You can come over here. You can choose any of these colors that are displayed here. You can go to more colors, to have access to even more colors, The ByLayer setting or you can use either one of these other colors displayed here by selecting it or by typing out their name. There's the true color tab. And then there's the color books as well. So that's taking a look at colors. Gonna cancel here. I'm gonna leave this at ByLayer. Now let's take a look at the lineweights Right here we have a chart where I've our already set up all of the individual lineweights that are standard in AutoCAD. You can come over here hit the drop down arrow next to lineweights. And you can define a lineweight for every object that you are about to create. So right now it's set to ByLayer. If I was to drag down, Choose this one right here for 1.06 millimeters and now to draw a rectangle. Notice it's now coming out with that line. Wait, I'm gonna come back up to here, go down to lineweight settings. And here's where you can change the display of your lineweights from either millimeters to inches. You can turn on or off the display of line weights. So these objects have line weights assigned to them but I can turn off the display. Hit that to turn it off. And I can say, okay. And now the lineweights are turned off by display. But these objects, if I was to select this from down here Still lineweights assigned to them. Come back and take a look at the lineweights again, let me hit Esc first. The lineweight settings. The adjust display scale only affects the display of lineweights in this lineweight dialogue box and in the lineweight dropdown list. And here's our current lineweight setting. And that is a look at our lineweights in AutoCAD. I'm gonna say, okay here, and I'm gonna set this back to ByLayer. Thanks for watching. Join me in the next lesson where we will take a look at line types in AutoCAD.
