Hello, and welcome to Knowledge City's course for AutoCAD Intermediate. My name is Patrick Porter, and I've spent several decades in the engineering and construction industry. I started my career as a drafter, working mainly with the mechanical and process instrumentation disciplines. Along the way, I've taught AutoCAD and drafting design courses at the collegiate level. I've spent the last 15 years now as a CAD/BIM manager where AutoCAD has played a major part in almost every project I have worked on throughout my career. In this course, you will continue to expand upon your understanding of the AutoCAD application. You will cover more complex topics to increase your proficiency with AutoCAD. And by the end of this course, you would've learned how to configure your AutoCAD workspace. You'll learn more about accurate positioning in AutoCAD. We also will have introduced you to AutoCAD's hatching and layered tools, and you will have learned about how to view and modify objects with the properties palette. We would've created a few blocks, and lastly, you would've worked with external references in AutoCAD. Before we get started, I want to take a minute to talk about how we're going to cover the lessons in this course. Throughout this course, I'll be using AutoCAD 2022 version. Autodesk, which is AutoCAD's parent company, also created an AutoCAD LT version. By starting with the full version of AutoCAD and removing a few features to create a more cost effective application, AutoCAD LT looks and feels much like the AutoCAD interface and menus of the application. The applications are almost identical, with a few exceptions of a few menus and commands that are missing. The major difference between the programs is AutoCAD LT lacks support for more advanced customization and programming, and it also has limited 3D support. The lessons you are going to receive in this course are all focused on AutoCAD's 2D drafting tools, and will apply to all versions of AutoCAD and AutoCAD LT created in the last few years. Where there may be differences between the versions, I'll be sure to point them out so that you'll be sure to get the skills you need to continue with your mastery of the AutoCAD application. Course Description

In this course, you’ll go beyond the basics of AutoCAD, as you continue to extend your AutoCAD mastery of the software with more sophisticated commands and techniques. You’ll understand AutoCAD workspaces and how to customize your own. You’ll earn how to accurately position objects in AutoCAD and be introduced to hatching and switching between patterns, solid colors, and gradient fills. This course will also explain how to effectively use layering to better manage your drawings. Object properties will also be introduced, so you can verify and modify object properties after their creation.

Additionally, you’ll be introduced to blocks so you can learn to create your own symbols in AutoCAD. Finally, you’ll to discover how to attach external reference files to your drawings from other drawings on your pc and across the network. By the end of this course, you’ll be able to further customize the interface, accurately position objects, create hatches, setup layers, modify properties, create blocks, and manage references in your AutoCAD drawings.
