If electricity powers equipment or lights in your workplace where hazardous materials are present, or a HAZMAT emergency occurs in an electrified area, it’s important to understand how electricity can impact emergency procedures.
In this course, you will learn the rules for staying safe around electricity in HAZMAT environments, according to HAZWOPER. These standards are designed to protect you from injuries and fatalities that could occur due to the interaction of electricity and hazardous materials. By the end of this course, you will understand how to prevent electrical hazards when working in a HAZMAT environment, and what to do in a worst-case scenario if electrical hazards cannot be contained.
It is for people who work in environments where electricity powers equipment or lights near hazardous materials, or where a HAZMAT emergency could occur in an electrified area, and who need to stay safe around electricity according to HAZWOPER.
It covers HAZWOPER standards, the basics of electrical safety, how electricity behaves when out of control, the classes of HAZMAT environments and their electricity standards and controls (Class 1, Class 2, and Class 3), how electricity and hazardous materials interact, and responding to and handling emergency situations.
You will understand how to prevent electrical hazards when working in a HAZMAT environment and what to do in a worst-case scenario if electrical hazards cannot be contained.
