When working with or around hazardous materials, it’s important to be prepared for any accidental releases or spills. Even a small amount of hazardous material can be extremely dangerous, making it essential for your organization to have a Hazard Communication Program and Emergency Response Plan that’s understandable and accessible.
In this course, we’ll cover the key steps in handling accidental releases and spills of hazardous materials, such as evacuation, decontamination, first aid, and emergency medical treatment. You’ll learn the integral factors that need to be included in your organization’s Hazard Communication Program as well as an Emergency Response Plan, and you will understand the different levels of personal protective equipment needed in various situations. We will go over the basics of site characterization, spill containment, and decontamination. By the end of this course, you will know the HAZWOPER standards for handling accidental spills and releases to keep yourself and your workplace safe.
It is for people who work with or around hazardous materials and need to be prepared for accidental releases or spills, including understanding their organization's Hazard Communication Program and Emergency Response Plan.
It covers the key steps in handling accidental releases and spills of hazardous materials, including evacuation, decontamination, first aid, emergency medical treatment, personal protective equipment levels, site characterization, spill containment, site cleanup and disposal, and decontamination.
You will know the HAZWOPER standards for handling accidental spills and releases, understand your company's Hazard Communication Program and Emergency Response Plan, handle unplanned spills safely, and understand the PPE and training needed for hazardous materials in your workplace.
Lessons include an Introduction, Planning for an Accidental Release, Personal Protective Equipment, Site Characterization and Spill Containment, Site Cleanup and Disposal, Decontamination, and a Conclusion.
It builds skills in Dangerous Goods/Hazmat Transport, Hazard Communication (HazCom), Hazard Management, handling Hazardous Goods and Hazardous Materials, and the Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response Standard (HAZWOPER).
