Hello, my name is Sharina, and in these lessons, you will learn how to format your notes in your OneNote notebook. In this lesson, you will learn formatting options on the Home tab. Here we are on our Home tab. We will get started by typing in information that we can then make formatting changes to. Okay, now that we have a line of text, we can go ahead and highlight it. And if you noticed, when you highlight a smaller dialog box opens, that looks similar to our font group commands. This box allows us to be able to format our text more conveniently because it's right here. We don't necessarily have to go all the way up to the format on the Home tab. So from here, we will go ahead and change our font. In order to change the font, you select the drop-down arrow in the font family group. I like a Comic Sans, it's a whimsical font, so I'm going to select Comic Sans, and I will go ahead and increase the size using the font size drop-down box, 36, just to make it big. And I will also go ahead and change the color. Black is automatic, I'm a fan of blues and oranges, so let's select orange. Once you're done, you can deselect or highlight your content and begin to create new content. If you would like to add a bulleted list, you would go back to your font group and select bullets, the drop-down arrow next to the bullet option will give you the bullet library to allow you to change the style of bullet that will be inserted once you select bullets. I'll select square, so as you can see, a square bullet was inserted onto my page. So let's create a list. So if you would like to have subtopics in your list, if you wanted to increase the indention or make it look like it is contained within that specific topic, you would select increase indent or simply select the tab button on your keyboard. So as you can see, when you do an increase indent or tab, it will change the bullet type. So you know, this is a separate subject of the topic above it. If you want to make it to where it's no longer a subtopic, you want it to be a main topic or you want it to be a main line in your bulleted list, you can always decrease the indention. If you want to add formatting to this list, remember, highlight your font group box will appear and you can make changes there. So let's select a different font family, let's select a bookman old style and we will make the font size just a little bigger at 12, and we want our list to be bold. So select bold if we wanted our bulleted list to look like other content that is already on our page, we can do so. So we can highlight our content. You can either select the format painter here or format painter here. The format painter takes what is highlighted, makes a note of all of the formatting changes that are within that highlighted content. And once you highlight new content that you want to apply the format to, it will apply it automatically. So you don't have to know which font color you selected, especially if there's a lot of content on a page, you don't have to remember which font family it was. You don't have to remember the color and the size of the font. The format painter will remember all of that for you simply by highlighting, getting format painter and highlighting the content you want to apply it to. If you would like to use one of the pre-made styles in one note, you simply highlight. And select the style that you are interested in. So right now the current style is a title, we'll make it a heading three. If you don't like any of these changes or you made the changes accidentally, simply click the undo button or if you realize, huh, I actually did like it, click redo and it will go back to how it was. If you would like to cut or copy or take information from another page within your notebook, you can do so. You would go to that page, highlight whatever the content is that you would like to cut or copy. So we'll copy it because I don't want to remove it completely from this page. Go back to the page. And we can either use our keyboard and hit control V or we can click paste to paste the copied information. Stay tuned for the next lesson where I will show you how to insert pictures and tables as well as perform additional formatting to your pages in one note. Thanks for watching.
