Hello, this is Oli Green, and in these lessons we're going to learn how to format shapes, format our text, and apply colors using the Format Painter. Now with the formatting of our shapes, we want to make our shapes a particular color. We may also want to make them transparent for various effects. We also may want to change the thickness of the outside of the shape, as well as adjust the arrows on either side of a particular shape. Let's get started. Now if you don't have the basic diagram open, we'll come up to File at the top and we'll come down to New, and over on the right we have our basic diagram. So we're going to click on our basic diagram, and that's going to open up another drawing. And with the basic diagram, we're going to drag over a rectangle. And we'll resize it slightly. There we go. And from there, we're going to hold down Ctrl to make a duplicate, and we're going to drag another rectangle over it. So you have two rectangles. We're going to select the back rectangle, and at the top under Home we have our fill shape. So we'll click the dropdown, and if we simply wanted to select a color, we can change the color of our shape. We can also format the edge of the shape. So if we click the drop down next to our paintbrush, we'll click the drop down and choose a color. You can't really see it if the edge is very thin, so we'll click again, come down to the weight, and increase the weight. And if we deselect, we have that outline around our shape. We'll click on our shape again, click the drop-down, go to weight, change the weight. Click the dropdown, we'll go to dash, and change the dash around that shape. Now, if you select the shape in the front, and we'll change the transparency, and We'll change the transparency to about 20. And now we can see through that particular shape. Now, if we wanted To control the way the arrows look on the shape, we're going to come on over to Insert and Draw Shape. And if you click the dropdown arrow, we can draw rectangles, squares, lines, circles, and ellipse. We're going to click on the line, drag the line across our shape, and with that line selected, we'll come up to shape, and we can control our shape outline. So We'll click the dropdown, change the dash, and also click the dropdown and change the arrows at either side of the shape. Let's select our front rectangle. We're going to right-click, and we're going to bring up our formatting options. So we'll select on the formatting options, and over on the right you have your formatting options window. So we have our dimensions, and we can quickly change the width and decrease the width. Also change the height, decrease the height, change the rotation, make it so that our shape has no fill, and also bring a solid fill to that shape. We can also, again, adjust the transparency and change the color. And we can also adjust our line as well. So no line, solid line. And change that color, control the thickness. That will increase the thickness of the line. And also if there's a dash on the line, we can control that as well. And if we have the ability to do this on a particular shape that's pointed on either side, we can change the arrows. And if we wanted to make this window go away, we can simply come up to the top, hit the X, and close. So in Review, we've changed and formatted the colors of our shapes, the outline of our shapes, as well as change the arrows, and the type of lines that are attached to our shapes.
