Hybrid work is becoming increasingly common in many parts of the world. A Gallup study has found that more than half of employees whose jobs can be done remotely prefer hybrid work. But what is it, exactly? Hybrid work describes when a person partially works in a company space, such as a dedicated office, but also works remotely by using technology in a space outside the workplace, such as their own home. One common goal of hybrid work is to provide more flexibility to the workforce, something many people see as a major perk of this work arrangement. Hybrid work can lead to happier employees, less burnout, and greater employee retention. But there can be some pain points. In particular, those skeptical about hybrid work might fear the loss of human connection in a hybrid workplace.
In this course, Building Connections in a Hybrid Workplace, we discuss why it’s important to foster positive relationships with colleagues. We explore how hybrid work environments can affect the communication, coordination, connection, creativity, and culture of an organization and how this affects the ability to connect with coworkers.
