Learning how to manipulate files is an essential skill for an Ubuntu Server administrator, which is why this course demonstrates how to edit files and file permissions. In systems that have a GUI, it is easy to edit files in the text editor program, but accomplishing that in Ubuntu isn’t the same. This is accomplished through the terminal. Everything in Ubuntu has permissions that dictate what the users can do with that file, and it’s important to know how to modify those permissions to allow who can view, modify, and execute.
This course will show you how to handle files on your Ubuntu Server. You will learn about the tools that you can use to modify text files through the terminal. You will learn of the importance of file permissions and how to see and modify them for users, owners, and groups. The module will demonstrate how to move, delete, copy, and rename files.
