A key point in virtualization is cloud. Cloud encompasses virtual machines and much more. In these lessons, we will discuss some of the larger and smaller cloud providers, and then we will set up virtual machines in those providers.
The rise of cloud computing brings with it the “as a service” platforms. Sites like Gmail, Spotify, and others are Software as a Service, or SaaS. For this course, we will focus on the Infrastructure as a Service, or IaaS, where we use the cloud provider in important ways. We will also cover the meaning of PaaS. Cloud computing brings incredible flexibility. You can spin up resources when demand is heavy, and spin resources back down when they are no longer needed. This can reduce cost by turning the systems off when not in use, and also make your organization more secure by shrinking your attack surface. With these skills, you will be prepared for a role in the IT and cybersecurity fields.
It is designed for learners who want skills in cloud computing and virtualization to prepare for a role in the IT and cybersecurity fields.
The lessons cover setting up and connecting to virtual machines in providers including Microsoft Azure, DigitalOcean, Google Cloud Platform, and IBM Cloud.
The course focuses on Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) and also covers the meaning of Software as a Service (SaaS) and Platform as a Service (PaaS).
You will learn to understand cloud computing concepts and install an operating system in a cloud environment, including Windows Server in Azure, Debian in DigitalOcean and Google Cloud Platform, and Ubuntu in IBM Cloud.
