Hello, this is Ali Green and in this lesson, we're going to explore our Layers panel. Now, as we start to add more to our drawings, they start to become a little bit more complex and our Layers panel will help us manage those drawings. Let's get started. So in our file we have our squares, our circles and our triangles and we wanna control our shapes that are already on our layer. We're gonna come on over to Home, and work our way over to the right and click on Layers and click on Layer Properties. Now, under your Layer Properties we have our circle, square and our triangle. And within our Layer Properties, we can control the visibility. So if we click on our circle, hit the checkbox under Visible and hit Apply, our circles disappear. We can also do the same thing with the square. Hit Apply, our squares disappear. Let's bring those back, hit Apply. And they both come back. Next, we come over to our next option. We have our print and we can determine which shapes are gonna print. So we hit the checkbox next to circle and triangle, and we'll hit Apply. And we'll hit OK. So we can see all of our shapes here. But if we go to File and we go to Print, we no longer see our triangle and our circle. Let's go back, hit the arrow, come back over to our layers, Layer Properties and we'll turn those layers back on and we'll hit Apply. Now under Active Layer, when we bring in new shapes, which layer do our shapes go to? So let's say we wanna select our circle as our active layer, hit Apply, hit OK. So right now on our active layer, we have a particular color. We're gonna come on over to the left, grab a square to our page, and it's gonna take on the attributes of that particular layer. Same thing with the rectangle, and same thing with any other shape that we will grab. So we'll come back up over to our basic shapes and we'll drag our shapes over and I'll take on those attributes. So we're gonna click on those shapes and hit delete. Let's come back over to our Layers, Layer Properties turn off active. And let's take a look at lock. So we can lock our shapes on the page. We'll click on square, it'll lock, hit Apply. Hit OK. So now we can't move our squares because they're locked, but we can move our other shapes. We'll come on over to Layers. Layer Properties, turn off the lock. We can also control the snapping on our page so our snapping will follow our grids. So we'll click on OK, come over to view, turn on the grid. And with our layers and our shapes, when we grab 'em, our shapes are going to snap to our grid in the background. So we'll come on over to Home, click on Layers, Layer Properties, turn the snapping off for the triangle, and we'll click on OK. So our triangle will now floats on the page and it won't snap to our grid. Come on over the Layers, Layer Properties, turn the snapping back on. And let's turn off the glue. So with the glue, we can click on OK. We'll leave it on and we'll come on over to Home. Click on Connector. And when we hover over our shapes, we get our gray boxes and we can connect. Come over to Layers, Layer Properties, turn our glue off, click on OK. And now we can no longer connect to those gray boxes. Click on Layers, Layer Properties, turn back on glue. We also have our colors. So if we turn off our colors, hit Apply, all of our shapes are the same color. And if we click on the circle, click on color, click the dropdown, change the color, hit Apply, those shapes change color. We can also click on that triangle, change the color and those shapes change color. And we'll... The pointer tool and deselect. So in review, this is our layers property.
