Hi, my name is Erin Sullivan, and in these next few lessons, we are going to be looking at tools we can use to create slideshows in Microsoft PowerPoint. We're going to be starting off by working with transitions and timings, and we're gonna be looking at the slide sorter view, inserting links, and creating custom slideshows. So let's get started. First of all, this presentation we are working on, we want to add some transitions. Transitions are the effects that are the way slides move between each other. So with transitions you can use sound, customize the transition, and the timing of the transition, how long the transition takes to occur. So let's take a look at adding transitions to our slides. So we have slide one selected, so on the ribbon we're going to go to the transitions tab. In the transition to this slide group, you can see that you can choose a variety of transitions. There's an entire gallery. There is the more button that allows you to choose some additional transitions. You have some subtle transitions, some more dynamic transitions. Depending on the transition that you choose, there are different options you can choose from in the timing group. The duration is the length of time that it takes for your transition to occur. I chose the crush transition, it occurs in two seconds. I can make that a little longer, say I wanna make it three seconds, I can see the preview, it's a little bit slower before it transitions to the next slide. Conversely, I can make it a little faster if I wanted. And instead of using the spinner arrows this time, I'm actually going to type, just type in the number one and then I'm gonna preview that and that's a little quicker. So depending on what you want and your presentation, you can adjust those timings for your transitions. You can also apply a sound to the transition. Some of the sounds lend themselves to some of the transitions. Others you can just decide if you like it. So maybe for this particular slide transition, I'd like a drum roll. So if I want to now see the preview and hear the drum roll, I can click on preview, (drum roll) and the drum roll lasts just as long as the transition and then the sound stops. Now when I change my transition, (drum roll) the drum roll is still there, so I would have to change the sound. Just 'cause I change the transition, doesn't mean that the sound changes. (drum roll) They work independently of each other and I can see how those work. Now, when I apply a transition, I can apply them individually to each slide along with the sounds. Or if I have applied it to one slide and I've decided, you know, I really like the way that works, I want that on all the slides in my presentation. In the timing group, I have the apply to all button that allows that sound to apply along with that transition to every slide in my presentation. So now if I go to my slideshow, from the quick access toolbar, I start my slideshow. There's the sound and that transition. As I click to the next slide, it applied as well. (drum roll) And so on and so forth until I have finished my presentation. So those are some of the options that you have when working with timing and transitions in Microsoft PowerPoint.
