In this lesson, you'll learn about the picture format and adjust tools. Here in Microsoft Word, we have a blank document. Let's go ahead and insert an image into this document. So here, we have an image, and now we see that the picture format ribbon has appeared. Unless an image is selected, this ribbon will not appear at the top of Microsoft Word. Here, let's take a look at the adjust tools. Our first tool that we have available to us is remove background. This will automatically remove unwanted portions of the picture if needed. Use marks to indicate areas to keep or remove from the picture. So let's go ahead and click on that. Here, we see that this colored area is the background that will be removed. Now, if we want to keep all changes and go ahead with this, we can go ahead and click on keep changes. And we see that the background has been removed. Now, what if we want to make adjustments? What if this is not to our liking? Well, let's go ahead and undo that, and let's click on remove background once more. Here, we can actually mark areas to keep. So if I wanna get more of this hair here, I can do that. And say I wanted this part of the table as well. And there, we see that those areas were marked as, to keep. And now, if I hit keep changes, that's our result. Now, once again, I'm going to undo this, and I'm going to check on, mark areas to remove. So say I wanted to remove this person from this part of the picture. If I draw around it, they're now removed from that area. And if I click on keep changes, we see that the area I removed has been excluded from this image. Now, if I undo this, I can also discard all changes. So, if I click on that, any changes I made to that removed background have been unapplied. Next, let's take a look at corrections. Here, we see the default are sharpen, soften, and brighten contrast. Here, we can either soften the image, and we can sharpen it, as we can see happening in the document. Now, if I click on any of these, that change will take place. So let me click on sharpen, and we see that the image has sharpened. I'll undo that. And here, we also have brightness and contrast levels. So we see that clicking on any of these will adjust the brightness and the contrast. So, say I wanted it this bright, if I clicked on that, we see the brightness has been applied. I'll go ahead and undo that. We also have picture corrections options. So if we want to fine-tune those adjustments, we have picture corrections, sharpen and soften. We have the different presets. And we can adjust sharpness. And under brightness/contrast, again, we have the presets and the amount of brightness and contrasts we can make. So for instance, if I made that change to contrast and this change to brightness, we can see it taking effect on this picture. Now, if we wanted to undo that, we can either undo or we could click on reset and those changes will be undone. Next, and let's close this first, we have color. And here we have different color options. Clicking on either of these will change either the color saturation, the color tone, or completely recolor the image. So for instance, if we chose this green, we see that the picture is now all different shades of green. And if we change the color tone, for instance, this temperature, it changes the temperature of the image. And if I chose one of these color saturations, we see that the saturation has changed as well. And finally, our picture color options, like we saw before, but instead of the corrections, we see picture color. So we can change saturation here. We can change temperature, if we like. And if we don't like any of those changes, we can click on reset. And again, we have the presets that we can take a look at. So now, let's take a look at artist effects or artistic effects. Here, we see different artistic effects that can be applied to this image. So for instance, say we wanted this photocopy effect for this image. We could apply that. I'll go ahead and undo that. Close this. And if we clicked on artistic effects options, once again, we have the different artistic effects that we can choose and apply to this picture. Next, let's take a look at transparency. Here, we see that these will change the level of transparency for this image. So if I clicked on this, the transparency would change to that level. And again, if I click on picture transparency options, I can see that I can manually adjust that transparency, if I like. We also have compressed picture. So by clicking on that, we have some compression options. Apply only to this picture, delete cropped areas of pictures. And then we have resolution options, which will matter more if this document is going to print. So we have high fidelity, we have HD, print, web, email, and we can use a default resolution, which we will keep. Further, we can change picture. So we can either change this picture to something else that we have stored on our local computer from stock images, from online sources, or from icons. And then finally, we have reset picture. So if we've made any types of changes, say we've made tons of changes through corrections, color, artistic effects, transparency. If we want to reset this back, we can click on, reset picture. And if we've resized the picture, we can click on reset picture and size. Thanks for watching. Stay tuned for the next lesson, where we will learn about picture styles tool group.
