In this lesson, you'll learn about creating and saving documents. There are a few ways you can create new documents in Microsoft Word 2021. And when saving your document, you also have a few options available to you. Here are some of the ways you can do both. When you first open Microsoft Word 2021, you will be at the start screen. There are three ways you can create a new document. The first is to click on new. The second is to click on blank document. You'll need to click on this twice to create a new document. Third, you can create a new document from a template. The start screen has a few suggested templates. You can also click on more templates if you would like to download additional templates. For the sake of this lesson, I will click on new, and then I will click on blank document. Again, you'll need to click on this twice to create a new document. Once you have created a document, you can now save the document. Here are a few ways to do that. The first is by clicking on the save icon, located at the top of the screen. If this is your first time saving this document, you'll be prompted with the save this file window. The window will let you choose the name and the document location. Any recently used locations will appear on this list. Clicking on more locations will also let you choose a specific area on your computer or cloud storage. For now, we will click on cancel. The second way to save is by clicking on file in the main interface. Here, we are taken to a screen that is similar to the start screen. To the right, we have a few saving options, save, save as. I also have save as Adobe PDF, which may only appear if you have Adobe Acrobat installed on your computer. If this does not appear, there's no need to worry. Clicking on save or save as will allow you to save to recent locations, your OneDrive cloud storage, recent locations on your local computer, the ability to add a place from OneDrive or OneDrive Business, or browse to choose a place on your local computer. When you are ready to save, make sure you have given your file a proper file name and then click on save. Thanks for watching. Stay tuned for the next lesson where we will learn about document file types.
