In this lesson, you will learn how to use some of the features through the desktop application of Microsoft OneNote to edit and change the font and font styles and sizes. Now that you're familiar with using the online application, the desktop application, and the mobile application of Microsoft OneNote, and you're also familiar with the sharing and the process of adjusting settings within your Microsoft OneNote, I'm going to go over some of the features that you can use within your Microsoft OneNote. So, as you can see here, I'm currently on my desktop version of Microsoft OneNote. This is a version of the application that we'll be using for some of these tools and practices today. In this lesson, you will learn how to adjust your fonts and formatting within your Microsoft OneNote. For this demonstration, I currently have my Desktop Notebook selected. Let's go ahead and click on Page 31, just above the Untitled Page, and we will experiment with some of the font settings within Microsoft OneNote. So as you can see here, I currently have this typed in. When I start to type, I can type in any location on my Microsoft OneNote page. This is a unique feature with Microsoft OneNote. As I start to type, you'll notice that a box comes around the text that I'm typing. This allows me to adjust where my font is being placed and allows me to place my font in any location on the page. To change the location of my text, I can simply hover above the line until I get this X symbol. When I click on this symbol, I can hold my mouse down and drag my text to any location on the page where I wish it to be placed. When I get to the location, I can simply release my mouse and you'll notice that my text has now been moved there. Let's explore some other features. If I go to the far right-hand side of my gray box, I get these arrows. These arrows allow me to resize my box. This text box is a unique feature with Microsoft OneNote. For example, if I want to resize my box, I simply hover until I have those arrows. There should be an arrow visible on the right side and the left side. I can simply click, hold down and drag. You can then see that I've adjusted the size of my text box. When I click outside of the text box, you'll notice that the size that I set it to has remained the same. Anything that you type within your Microsoft OneNote pages is within a text box like that. You can have one large text box, or you can have multiple text boxes throughout one page. Now let's experiment with adjusting some fonts. You will need to be on your homepage within your Microsoft OneNote to adjust your font. We're going to first experiment with adjusting font with previously typed font. So as you can see here, I currently have my Abcdefg typed below. And it shows what my current font style is and the size of my font. To simply change the font of my Abcdefg, I'm going to click and highlight. When I click my mouse and I drag it over, you will notice that I've highlighted that. Now that it's highlighted, I can go up to my font selection, which is the title right here, and I can click on the down arrow. You will notice that many options become available to you to choose from. Let's go ahead and click on this option. You will notice that the highlighted text changed. You'll also notice that all the text on the page that was not highlighted has remained the same as it was before. You can change your font as many times as you would like by going through the same process and selecting the font that you wish to choose. When you change the font style, you'll notice that sometimes the font size changes a little bit. This is because font styles are particular to their settings. So even though your settings has remained the same as 11, the 11 of some fonts is smaller than the 11 of some others. Now let's go ahead and experiment with changing the font size. We're gonna go ahead and highlight our Abcdefg. And we're going to go up to the font size. When we click on the dropdown menu, we have the option to change our size. The font size can only be changed once the option is clicked on. So in this case, as we scroll down the blue highlighting, it will not change it until we select a different font size. Let's go ahead and select 16. When we click 16, you'll notice that the font size has changed. And if we were to create more words within this text box, you will notice that our font from here on out within this text box remains as you set it up here. So let's go ahead and type in. So you notice that that font remains the same throughout. Now you can even take it a step further and you can highlight this one more time. And below the font options, you will see a bold letter, an italic letter, and an underlined letter. Bold simply means you can bold your font. And once selected, you'll notice that it's highlighted around the bold option. Italic means to italicize your font. And once highlighted, you'll notice that that's also highlighted around your option. And then underline means to underline it. Now you can notice that all three options can simultaneously be selected. To de-select one of these options, you can simply click on it again, such as italic for example. When I click off the italic style, you'll notice that now my text is not italicized. This is just some examples on how you can adjust some of the font and settings within your Microsoft OneNote. Now pertaining to your settings, your OneNote may be set to a default. Meaning, if you try to text outside this text box, and say you want your text to remain the same as you originally set it here, you will notice that currently my text goes back to a default, the original text method. I can then shift it automatically, or I can change my default settings by going through the settings process that we reviewed earlier in this course. This has been some examples on how to adjust your fonts and your formatting within your OneNote pages through the desktop application of Microsoft OneNote.
