Hello welcome to Intermediate Visio. In this lesson we're going to look at another type of drawing that you can base on a template in Visio called a network diagram. This is especially for network professionals who are trying to create diagrams of their computer networks. So we're going to go ahead and come up to the file ribbon tab and come to new. And again, we see all the different templates available through Microsoft Visio. Including here a suggested search for network or again if I don't see that I can just type in network and hit Enter and really it's amazing the different choices that we have here. But when it comes to really starting out with something basic you'll see that there is a choice called basic network diagram. This is the one I wanna start with. We're gonna keep it simple as we get started. So I'm gonna select this one and then again notice that I have to pick what units that would be measured in either metric or U.S. And then I also have a couple of further choices. Do I want a basic home network or do I want a small or medium business network? This will give me different again shapes within the stencils that are provided or I also just have a basic blank network diagram view. I will also have network diagram shapes but they won't be specific. So I'm going to go ahead and do a business one and then say create. Now, we're going to see again that it does actually create a basic drawing for me along with again suggestions down here on the bottom. This talks about how to add shapes, how to align things how to extend the network. These are suggestions but you can always click on them because they do appear in their own separate dialog box, hit delete and remove them. The important thing to notice though with the network diagram template is now that we look at it, I have some new stencils. I have a network and peripheral stencil that is going to include things like ethernet, mainframes, switches, lots of great shapes that are going to help me detail my drawing. I also have a computers and monitors stencil that has things like PCs, terminals LCD monitors again things that are specific to really visually helping to represent a network. Also, this is again a new drawing. I haven't named it yet so I need to save it so that I can move forward. Thanks so much for watching in the next lesson. We're going to explore adding some of these shapes to your again network diagram to really help enhance it. Stay tuned.
