Hello. Welcome to our Intermediate Visio course. In this lesson I want to look at a way to further organize and also add detail. Especially to drawings that will have multiple groups of shapes within them showing processes. Now, here I have a more in depth flow chart. It has really an upper portion and a bottom portion. To help further document what's going on inside of this flow chart I want to add what's called a call out. Now the first step in creating a call out is to select the shapes that will be located within it. So I'm gonna come in and left drag under the area that contains the shapes that will actually be in my call out. We'll say that everything located within the selection area gets contained within those sizing handles. Now to add them to this specific call out, I'm going to come up to the Insert ribbon tab. And on the Insert ribbon tab I'll see that I have a diagram parts area with a Container. And the name is really what this is. It's a container for specific shapes within a drawing. I'm gonna select the container And we'll see that now the shapes are located within that container. Now, this container has a name. And if I come in and click on the container, and actually double click on that heading. I can give this particular container a name. Now a couple of interesting characteristics about this container. If I click on it, I'll see that it selects all the shapes inside of it. And I can also still work with the shapes individually. But notice when I select a shape within the container. The container has a light green highlight on it to also indicate that the container is also part of this shape. Now let's say for example that I delete the container. What happens to the shapes inside of it. If I click on the container and hit my Delete button. Notice the shapes get deleted as well. So, you need to be careful when you're working with containers because it's almost like you're basically compartmentalizing different parts of your Visio drawing. But it's also a great way to label areas within a drawing almost to create different segments or phases within it. Stay tuned. In the next lesson we're gonna look at how you can add and remove additional shapes to your containers.
