In these lessons you'll learn about viewing and editing files in Google Drive. This lesson, you will learn about viewing files. Viewing files in Google Drive is more than just opening your files. Google Drive gives you a variety of options when it comes to file viewing. First, let's access Google Drive. On the Google homepage, click on the nine dot waffle grid icon located at the top right-hand corner of the page. On the menu that appears, click on Drive. You will now be at your, My Drive page. Now we see our files available to us on our Google Drive. Double-clicking on any of the files, will either launch the files or prompt you to download the file. In the case of files like executable files and ZIP archive files. Right-clicking on a file gives you several options. Let's look at those. First, right-click on a file. Here, I am right-clicking on this Google doc file. Doing this brings up a menu. The first option is Preview. Clicking on this will give you a preview of the file. This is helpful with files like DOCs, PDFs, and Images. Open with, lets you specify a program on your local computer that you would like to open the file with. Clicking on Share will allow you to share the file to anyone using their email address. If you are within an organization, you can also look up people that you can share with. Get link, will give you a shareable link that you can send to anyone. Please exercise caution when deciding to share or share links with people you do not know. Show file location, will show you the files location within Google Drive. This becomes especially helpful once you start accumulating files within different folders. Add shortcut to Drive, will create a shortcut to the file or folder. Like computer shortcuts, these shortcuts can be accessed anywhere on Google Drive and will point to the destination file or folder. Move to, will allow you to move the file or folder anywhere on your Google Drive or other Google Drives you may have access to. Add to Starred, will make the file or folder appear in the starred section of Google Drive. Available offline, will make a file available to access. if you have lost your internet connection. Please note that you will have to set this up ahead of time if you want the file to be accessible at a later time when internet access is lost. Rename, will allow you to rename the file or folder selected. Make a copy, will make a copy of the selected file or folder. It will create a copy with the prefix copy of followed by the file or folder name. Download, will download the selected file or folder to your local computer. Please note that downloaded folders will download as a ZIP archive file. Finally, Remove, will send a file or folder to the trash section of your Google Drive.
