Words can be powerful, and if we aren’t careful, they can be insensitive and create tension or conflict, even if that wasn’t our intention. This is why it’s necessary to support and honor differences in the workplace through our words and actions. By acknowledging and valuing these differences, you can help create a more positive and productive work environment for all employees and build a workplace of inclusivity and acceptance. The modern workplace is more diverse than ever, and knowing how to respect your coworkers’ and employees’ differences is a defining characteristic of effective leadership.
