What can you do when you encounter microaggressions in the workplace? Identifying microaggressions is a delicate task, so proceeding thoughtfully is key. It’s important to consider whether generalizations are involved and how the statement or action impacted the victim and those around them. While microaggressions are often unintentional, that doesn’t mean they aren’t dangerous. While it’s often best to take a direct approach and deal with these situations quickly, there are situations where a more indirect approach is required. It’s a good idea to pursue ongoing education and reflect on your potential biases in order to build internal and external awareness. But where should you start?
In this course, we’ll take a look at some strategies you can use to identify and address microaggressions. We’ll discuss the benefits of awareness and understanding while also considering ways to prevent microaggressions from occurring in the workplace.
