How do microaggressions manifest themselves in the workplace, and how do they harm others? Microaggressions can come in many forms, some of which are harder to detect than others. Some more apparent ones may target race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, or disability. But it’s also important to note that microaggressions can also occur based on a victim’s age, education level, skill set, and socioeconomic status. Microaggressions have the potential for serious harm in all cases, no matter who it affects. That’s why it’s important to be able to recognize the different ways this behavior manifests. In doing so, you can gain a better understanding of how microaggressions impact team members and the organization as a whole.
In this course, we will make distinctions between different kinds of microaggressions. We will provide examples of prejudiced behavior and statements and its affects on employees. We’ll also discuss the benefits of having a microaggression-free workplace.
