The analytical process is composed of several steps, each essential to the effectiveness and efficiency of the process. Managers and their teams must start with a question—a hypothesis—they are attempting to answer, or a problem they are attempting to solve. From there, data will be used to develop potential strategies or solutions. A plan for gathering the relevant data must be determined and applied, the data collection must be analyzed using pertinent criteria, and findings must be presented to those involved or affected by the issue.
This course on the Analytical Process in the Workplace explores how data analytics can help in identifying trends, possible challenges, and opportunities. We’ll discuss how you can look for patterns and draw conclusions from your gathered data, as well as how to avoid confirmation bias or false causality. We’ll look at formal and informal ways to present your findings after reaching a conclusion, as well as how to refer back to your data to reinforce your conclusions.
