Hello, in these lessons we're gonna learn about upgrading to Windows 11. In this lesson, we're going to learn about the hardware requirements for Windows 11. Some of them are gonna look pretty familiar because they're the same as Windows 10. But there's a few new ones that have really thrown people for a loop. So let me bring over the official Windows site for Windows 11 or the official site as far as system requirements. So as we can see, processor, one gigahertz. That's nothing new. A compatible 64-bit processor. RAM, again, four gigabyte. Nothing new. Storage, 64 gigs. Again, those three are pretty common. They've been pretty common the last couple OSs that Microsoft has put out. But now we get into some changes. System firmware, UEFI. So this is the new version of the BIOS, which is also secure boot compatible. So you got to make sure your machine is running UEFI rather than the old-style BIOS. And then the big one, TPM, trusted platform module, version 2.0. This is a requirement that Microsoft has introduced for security purposes. Now, most machines that have been purchased within the last three to five years are compatible with 2.0 but by default it is off. So you would need to go into UEFI/BIOS and at least turn it on. If your machine is older than about five years, it is not gonna be compatible with 2.0. Therefore, you won't be able to run Windows 11. Graphics card, again, pretty straightforward. Display, again, 720 pixels. Very common. And of course internet connection because Microsoft will be pushing out updates as they always have. So you need that internet connection. Now, one thing I do wanna remind you. These are minimum requirements, meaning that yes, Windows 11 will run with these specs but don't expect it to perform at the top level. I would recommend at least doubling the RAM and storage and probably the processor too to get the most out of your Windows 11 machine but it will run with these specs. So hopefully now you know exactly what is needed to run Windows 11 as far as hardware is concerned. And hopefully your machine meets these requirements.
