We all have biases we are aware of, and some we are unaware of. In this course Types of Bias, you will learn about your conscious and unconscious biases. We’ll describe biases we’re intentionally acting upon and those that are more difficult to observe and address.
We’ll define multiple types of bias, provide practical examples, and explore how different types of bias affect us and others. We’ll also share ways to avoid making biased choices in your daily life.
We’ll help you devise strategies to overcome your biases. We’ll show you how you can be an ally of those who are in the minority and work to prevent conscious bias on a larger scale. You’ll also learn about how to manage your unconscious biases and make small changes in your life to overcome other types of bias.
We all have a responsibility to recognize conscious bias and work to prevent it both inside and outside of work. Challenging our unconscious biases is also important in influencing our behavior and impacting those around us. We’ll show you how to prevent common biases by questioning decisions before making them and knowing when to try different approaches.
