Hello, welcome to Knowledge City's course on intermediate Microsoft Azure. My name is Steven Burnley, and I'm a software developer and cloud engineer. In this course you will learn how to use Microsoft Azure to expand your organization's information technology resources and use the shared infrastructure called the cloud that Microsoft provides to customers on a subscription basis. So in this course the first thing that we'll cover is how to design and configure an Azure virtual network including the allocation of IP addresses and breaking up a virtual network into smaller subnets. It is possible for a subscription to use many virtual networks for different solutions. So we'll cover the concepts of managing multiple networks and allowing communication between them. We'll also cover the foundation of how to secure your networks to make sure that you are only allowing the type of activities that are intended for those services. In addition to covering virtual networks, we will then cover the concept of Azure virtual machines. Azure virtual machines can be based on the Linux or the Windows operating system, and virtual machines are very flexible resources. In addition to creating virtual machines in your subscription, your organization could instead choose to host web applications. Hosting web applications in the cloud is a popular solution because it allows you to use many different types of development tools to build your application and then deploy it and scale it across the world based upon the demand for resources. In addition to hosting web applications, it's common for organizations to also want to store databases in their cloud subscription. When you start to store secure resources in the cloud you may want to then protect those resources and the credentials associated with logging into them by adopting a product called the Azure Key Vault. The Azure Key Vault is used to provide a safe location for you to provide secure credentials such as usernames and passwords, URLs to remote services, or certificates used for encryption. Finally, we'll also cover Azure's capability of hosting container based applications in the cloud. Container based applications are based on a popular standard called Docker, and allows organizations to package web applications built in a variety of different languages into a single common runable product called a container. By the end of this course, you'll be able to design and implement cloud solutions using Microsoft Azure. Let's get started.
