In these lessons, you will learn how to install Git, about basic Git configuration, about Git help, about creating a GitHub account, and downloading the GitHub desktop app. First thing we'll do is go to the Git website, which can be found at www.git-scm.com. Once we're on this page, we'll go to the download section and you can see the different options to download to, Mac OS, Linux, or Windows. We're gonna choose Windows. That brings you to the downloading Git page and your download should start automatically. And I'm using Chrome, so it's downloading down in the corner here. But if it should happen to not download automatically or you need 32-bit option for Windows, you can choose this other Git for Windows download section and choose 32-bit or 64-bit. And once the download is finished, you can either go to your downloads folder or click on the arrow down here and open it. You can just click on the default installation options for the purposes of this tutorial. Now, if we wanna make sure the install worked okay, we can do a quick test by opening up a command prompt. You open the command prompt, you can just type in the command git --version and you'll see the latest version of Git has been installed. Another helpful command, no pun intended, is git --help. This command will show you all the commands available to you in Git. And that'll pretty much do it for the Windows install. We'll take a look at the Mac installation next.
