Hello, and welcome. In this lesson, you will learn about the components and patterns of UX design. So what are some of the principles of UX design? Well, some of those principles rest on things like, what does a customer see, is the wording meaningful, is the imagery helpful, is there a clear and quick path to get to where I wanna go? For example, if I wanna get to the phone quickly, and I'm looking at this, where do I look for the phone? This phone handset is a good image. Even though the image is probably 40 years old and no one uses this thing anymore but for some reason, everyone seems to understand it. So can I make a phone call quickly if I click on the button, do I have to wait a long time for it to work? And then when I get to the next step, you might ask, why do I have a blank screen? What do I do now? How do I make a phone call? Oh, is it this thing down at the bottom? Okay. Well, how was I to know that? Okay, I understand the numbers, but I might not understand the thing before that. So UX design is understanding the customer. What is the customer's knowledge base and what do they need to know in order to use your app. So UX is a continuous discipline. As your app matures and becomes better with each passing release are you in touch with your customer? Do you have your finger on the pulse and are you learning from them? So, one of the reasons that we put in Logcat information so that we can study how a customer uses our app. So if we can find out that a customer is staring at this screen for a long time, and we're finding out that a lot of customers are looking at this blank screen for a long time, we might wanna surmise that they really don't know what to do here. And we might want to take a different approach. For instance, we might wanna skip this screen and go right to this screen. So this refinement also includes building consistency with your app and understanding the customer. So as a good UX designer, you have to consistently challenge all of your assumptions and try to put yourself into the mind of your customer. And you might wanna code in some analytics into your app so that you can analyze what's going on. So yes, UI design is a big part of UX design, and themes and styles is part of that organization. We want our app to be well organized, well structured, well labeled, and we want it to be pleasing to the eye. So that concludes our lesson on components and patterns of UX design. Thanks for watching. Stay tuned for the next lesson. So let's go.
